The Svalbard archipelago is one of the world’s northernmost inhabited areas with rugged glaciers and frozen tundras waiting to be explored. Due to her smaller size, technological capabilities and environmental controls, our Discovery Yacht will take you on an in-depth exploration of this fragile and remote region with minimal impact. The extraordinary nature of this part of the world dictates the flexible sailing schedule. Your experienced Captain and Discovery Leaders will carefully plan each day’s activities based on the conditions.

Scenic Eclipse cruises during the prime time for wildlife spotting, and there will be many opportunities to see the dominant predators including the Polar bear, who number as many as 3,000 roaming the sea ice, as well as the Arctic fox and wolf. Marine species abound including the carefully protected walrus with its characteristic tusks and several species of whales. Hunted almost out of existence in a region now transformed into a dedicated conservation area, your encounters with these giants of the sea will be a memory to treasure. Your crew will navigate close to some of the most beautiful glaciers such as the Monacobreen Glacier on Svalbard and the 14th of July Glacier in northwestern Spitsbergen where one of the most astonishing experiences will be the chance to witness a glacier calving.
